Sputnik Light

Sputnik Light is a simplified version of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine that does not require a second dose. The vaccine was developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Russian Ministry of Health. Sputnik Light was registered by the Russian Ministry of Health on March 29, 2021
Sputnik Light initiates the formation of antibody and cellular immunity to coronavirus infections caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, similar to the Sputnik-V vaccine but using only one component instead of two.

Like the initial prototype of the vaccine, Sputnik Light demonstrated high safety indicators for immunized individuals, including those with preexisting immunity to SARS-CoV-2. According to data from the Russian Foundation for Direct Investment, Sputnik Light has a 79.4% effectiveness rate (28 days after vaccination).

The vaccine has completed three of four stages of trials, including pre-clinical (on animals) and clinical. Sputnik Light is currently in Phase III. On February 21, 2021, the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Russian Ministry of Health and the Russian Foundation for Direct Investment launched a global study into the effectiveness of Sputnik Light. Phase III of clinical studies, involving 7,000 people in Russian, the UAE, Ghana and other countries, is underway
